Member Privacy Policy (Last Updated: March 23, 2009) The Society for Responsible Design Inc. (SRD), is a progressive not-for-profit organisation with an annually audited Registered Environment Organisation (REO) status in Australia. We are strongly committed to much more than just protecting and respecting your privacy rights in accordance with the respective compliance obligations of the countries in which we operate. This SRD Member Privacy Policy sets out the basis on which SRD collects and uses personal data from our members and should assist our web site visitors in understanding our data security and privacy practices regarding collecting personal data from Members of SRD services.

What personally identifiable information is collected?
SRD collects information from its Members in a fair and lawful manner for the purposes of Member identification, providing services, membership, renewal and related administration. SRD collects data, such as name, address, e-mail address, fax and telephone numbers, on Members and visitors, through the registration forms on the SRD Site and at events we participate in. SRD may collect other information about Members and visitors use of the website and their business or the company for whom they work, for the purpose of marketing campaigns, as permitted by law. Members and visitors are not obliged to provide such information and may choose to opt out of such marketing campaigns or eNews emails or similar through contacting our administration representative or our Privacy Manager via email at srd @ srd.org.au SRD will give you the option to opt out of each email communication that we may send to you. SRD may keep a record of any correspondence with Members and newsletter subscribers until it is no longer necessary. SRD may also ask you to complete surveys for research purposes and may keep a copy of your responses. Please note that you are not obliged to respond to such surveys.

Are Cookies and Log files used?
SRD may collect information about your computer and browsing preferences, including where available your IP address, operating system and browser type, for system administration purposes. This is statistical data about SRD's users' browsing actions and patterns to improve our services, and does not identify any individual. In some circumstances, SRD uses cookies to enhance the functionality of the service we offer our Members. A cookie is a small data file on the hard drive of your computer. SRD uses cookies to identify a Member and to store registration details so that the Member is no longer required to re-enter these details on subsequent visits. In addition, SRD uses cookies to indicate the number of computers used by each Member to log-in (if currently available) to the SRD service, to prevent abuse of the system and logins (See Conditions of Use). SRD also collects information on IP addresses and web browsers used by Members when they access the service for the same reasons mentioned above. You may refuse to accept cookies by activating the setting on your browser which allows you to refuse the setting of cookies. However, if you select this setting you may be unable to access certain parts or functionality of the SRD website. Unless you have adjusted your browser setting so that it will refuse cookies, our system will issue cookies when you log on to the SRD website. Please note that SRD may use technology service providers to help us monitor our website usage. Some of these service providers may collect non personal information through cookies on our behalf. These vendors are obliged to comply with the terms of this privacy policy.

Uses made of the information
SRD uses information held about you in the following ways:
To provide you with information and services that you request from SRD or which SRD feels may interest you, where you have consented for such purposes;
* To carry out its obligations in any agreements or contracts with you;
* To allow you to participate in interactive features of the SRD service, when you choose to do so; and
* To notify you about the changes to the SRD service, including new event, service or product announcements.
* To conduct internal administration of SRD's business.

Does SRD disclose information to Third Parties?
SRD may use third party vendors for Member relationship management purposes, including with the distribution of email communications. SRD does not permit third party vendors to use Member personal data for any purpose outside of those disclosed within this privacy policy. SRD may disclose the names of users of the SRD service to enquiring parties only if the enquiring party is from the same organisation as the SRD user. SRD may disclose your personal data to other parties:
* To companies who are legally or closely affiliated with SRD, including those within o2 Global Network. Information on o2 Global Network can be found at http://www.02.org
* In the event that SRD transfers, sells or buys any organisation, business or assets, in which case SRD may disclose your personal data to the prospective seller or buyer of such organisation, business or assets but all only when fully appropriate;
* If SRD or substantially all of its assets are acquired by a third party, in which case personal data held by it about its Members will be one of the transferred assets;
* If SRD is under a duty to disclose or share your personal data in order to comply with any legal obligation;
* In order to enforce or apply our Conditions of Use and other agreements with you;
* To protect the rights, property or safety of SRD or its Members, which includes exchanging information with other companies and organisations for the purposes of fraud protection and credit risk reduction.
Purchasers of any future Ecommerce orf SRD products through any future web store also agree to the terms & conditions found onsite there.

Where we store your personal data.
By submitting your personal data to SRD, you consent to the transfer and storage of personal data for processing by SRD in another country of our choosing, including Australia, the United States and Europe. SRD will take reasonable steps to ensure that your data is treated securely outside of your country of origin and in accordance with this Member Privacy Policy.

Securing your personal data
All information you provide to SRD is stored on secure servers. Any payment transaction with financial institutions will have your information encrypted and used solely to process the transaction. Wherever SRD has given you a password which enables you to access certain parts of the SRD website, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. Once SRD has received your information, SRD will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access. However please note that SRD cannot guarantee the security of your data in transmission to the SRD website. Transmission is at your own risk.

Links to Third Party Sites
The SRD website may from time to time contain links to external websites. SRD encourages its Members to review the privacy and security policies of any externally linked websites that may be accessed through the SRD website. SRD assumes no responsibility or liability for the information, collection and disclosure practices of any sites that a user can access through the SRD website. Please check the privacy policies of external websites before you submit any personal data to them.

Can I change or delete information secured?
SRD does its utmost to ensure the quality and accuracy of the Member personal data in its possession, and as such invites newsletter subscribers and Members of the service to access or update their details as necessary. SRD is committed to providing reasonable and practical access to allow visitors the opportunity to identify and correct any inaccurate details we may hold. This can be done by clicking here or through contacting the Privacy Manager via email at srd @ srd.org.au. SRD shall aim to respond to your data access request within 30 days of receiving your request. If SRD is unable to respond to your request within such period SRD shall notify you of the reason why SRD is so unable. All Members and visitors have the right to access or update personal data that they have submitted through the SRD website by contacting the Privacy Manager via email at srd @ srd.org.au. Should subscribers and Members subsequently choose to unsubscribe from mailing lists they can do so by following the instructions on how to unsubscribe provided in all SRD communications. On request, SRD will delete personally identifiable information that has been submitted from the current database, unless it is required to retain such information by law. As a general principle, SRD will retain Member records for around 7 years. Please do review our website(s) to understand and see how we genuinely have your interests and those of all humanity and all life on earth in all our activities.

Children's Online Privacy Protection
The SRD service is directed mainly towards adult users. SRD does not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13. Children under the age of 13 should not use the SRD website or submit information to SRD. Policy Changes Any changes that SRD makes to this Member Privacy Policy shall be posted on the SRD website and where appropriate with material changes, we may notify you via email.
